What Our CSA Members Say

Every year we survey our CSA Members with the goal of improving the CSA experience for all of our members. Here’s what they had to say about being a member of Stout Oak Farm’s CSA-

What were the highlights of your CSA Share in 2022?

Lots of members told us about their favorite veggies from their shares:

Carrots!

Tomatoes, carrots, Napa cabbage, scallions and peas

Bok choy

We loved the tomatoes, zucchini and carrots! We enjoyed the opportunity to try new things.

Crunchy kale in sandwiches.

Carrots and greens

Peas!

Tomatoes, carrots, senposai, cilantro, greens, peppers, onions, eggplants…just to name some

The variety was great. Loved the cilantro and basil!

The microgreens, patty pans, tomatoes, basil, and the fresh, local veggies. We loved them all!

The tomatoes

All the basil!

All the cherry tomatoes

The tomatoes were amazing!

Tomatoes and basil, kale!

Tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, trying some new veggies. Loved the carrots and garlic. And your lettuce is always top notch!

Pickles! We loved all the cucumbers.

We loved all the veggies. The carrots are always awesome, and great scallions.

Tomatoes were great. Oh hell everything was great.

And lots of members told us about many other meaningful aspects of being a Stout Oak Farm CSA Member that were their highlights:

Trying new vegetables.

Finally found a local organic CSA

Trying new recipes & swapping books, & the good-natured & knowledgeable staff.

Everything we got is high quality, fresh and clean. I like the ”bonus” veg option to pick last item most weeks.

The recipes and ideas of how to use and store the veggies.

Learning new preparations for familiar, but not as frequently prepared, foods.

The recipes!

The participation and recipes and getting family involved

The Foodie Adventure CSA was a lot of fun. I made spaghetti sauce and pickles for the first time!

I love the email, storage of veg, and recipes

Loved seeing what else was in the store and being greeted by the staff every week.

The farm team!

The Foodie Adventure Box Share. Getting tomatoes to add to my harvest made for some great sauce making, soup making, and salsa making.

Quality of produce.

The quality of the food, cleanliness of food and farm, friendliness of staff

I love everything about the farm

Sense of community visiting the farm each week for pickup, and the warm sense of belonging to a group of like-minded CSA members.

Not all Sunshine Blend and Tomatoes

We also ask about the disappointments, and for suggestions.

Took a bit to get used to so many veggies at one time. Next year will be easier because I will plan on freezing some veggies every week. The challenge was knowing how to prepare some of the “weird” veggies and recipes to use that my teenagers would actually eat. I just didn’t know what to expect with my CSA. But now I love it!’

Maybe a little more variety week to week?

Turnips and radishes aren’t big favorites in my family, so they built up in the fridge until I could get around to roasting them. Luckily, they kept really well so it wasn’t wasted. Similar experience with kale. I could only eat so much, so maybe it was too big a box for our family’s needs.

Maybe a section in the newsletter for recipe sharing.

There was a lot of leafy greens!

Some of these will result in changes (we hear you on the salad turnips!) but others are part of finding the right fit for your CSA –  our CSA shares will continue to have lots of leafy greens as we love growing and eating them. You can get a good idea of the veggies we grow for our Vegetable CSA here.

We Love Growing Your Food

And we’re glad that our passion for growing clean, healthy food for our community shines through!

The farm team crushed it, very grateful to all of the care you take growing the food!

All of your staff are friendly and welcoming!! Hands down girl power!

I want to thank you all for a wonderful first time experience with crop sharing. Your system is amazing. I wouldn’t change a thing. The pick-up process runs like clockwork. Easy in and out.

The quality, cleanliness and freshness are unmatched

I’m really grateful that my neighbor introduced me to you a few years ago, so I could move my local buying in your direction…

You all are doing a great job & you are an important part of our community!

You have the best farm & staff!!

Even though it is my first year of CSA, I’ve been a customer for years and just love how much you have evolved as a farm store providing excellent produce.

The produce quality and customer service is top notch. Thank you for all your work!

Your hard work and flexibility when crops and weather don’t turn out as planned are admirable. I’m so happy to be part of this community.

We have been wanting to join a CSA for a while now, so happy we did and that we went with Stout Oak!

I love everything you grow and do! Love trying new things. And love the recipes and hints you provide.

We love you!

The feeling is very mutual! We love our CSA!
