It’s hard to believe it’s August already. We’re getting fall crops planted, thinking ahead to what the pumpkin harvest might look like, when the onions will be ready for curing, and whether we might try overwintering some carrots this year.

pumpkins and winter squash growing and growing! |
But honestly, with tomato harvest underway, it’s hard to think
about much of anything else . . . the unrivaled Sun Gold cherries, juicy Green Zebras eaten in the field, slow-roasted plum
tomatoes, giant Brandywine BLTs, gorgeous heirloom tomato mozzarella salads. It’s tomato season, and we are dedicating ourselves to enjoying every minute of it. We hope you are too!
For those of you who are wondering where the chickens went, they are enjoying some time up on top of the hill, scratching and foraging their way across a new field where we plan to grow vegetables next year. Soon they’ll continue their pasture rotation back down the hill to the future orchard/berry patch.
