This spring we will be offering native perennials at our Spring Plant Sale Events, including the Spring Open House on May 2nd.
The Native Plant Selection will include some of our own field dug plants that we have cultivated here at Stout Oak Farm, as well as a selection of high quality plants grown locally at Van Berkum Nursery, a family-owned wholesale nursery in Deerfield, NH.

We’re expecting our first delivery of the plants listed below in time for our May 2nd Spring Open House, and anticipate receiving a second delivery of additional plants in May as the season warms up and perennials emerge from their winter slumber.

Native plants provide much-needed food and habitat for the insects and birds that our ecosystem relies on for pollination and as part of the food web.
Growing these wonderful low-maintenance plants will help restore critical biodiversity, and also create a vibrant and engaging landscape. You’ll be amazed at how many butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinators will visit your garden!
Over the past few years here at our farm, we have been gradually incorporating more and more native plants into the landscape – in cultivated gardens, meadows, and field margins.
As part of this initiative, we have connected with a vibrant local network of native plant growers and enthusiasts. Last fall we went to visit Van Berkum Nursery and got a chance to see the diversity of plants they are growing, including many native species. We’re excited to partner with Van Berkum this spring to offer you a great selection of our favorite native plants!
What are Native Plants?
Native plants are the species that evolved in our ecosystem to thrive in our climate and soils. They provide nectar, pollen, seeds, stems, and leaves that our native butterflies, insects, birds and other animals need for food and habitat.
Since they have evolved to live in our area, these plants tend to be more suited to our gardens and often need less care and maintenance to thrive. All of the plants we’re offering are Perennial, meaning they will come back year after year.
