it’s winter market season!

It may be cold outside, but our greenhouse is buttoned up for winter, and it’s just warm enough inside to grow some beautiful microgreens for the upcoming Seacoast Eat Local Winter Farmers’ Markets.

We’ll be attending the next two markets, Saturday December 7th in Rollinsford at Wentworth Greenhouses, and December 14th at Exeter High Schoool, 10am – 2pm. In addition to an abundance of microgreens, we’ll be bringing cabbage, carrots, beets, radishes, and all the cold hardy greens we can coax out of our fields.  Hope to see you there!

While most readers here probably know me first as a farmer, I should mention that I also have a part-time role as Seacoast Eat Local’s Winter Farmers’ Market Coordinator, and I serve on Seacoast Eat Local’s Board of Directors. We are now in our seventh year organizing indoor winter markets, and I’m proud to say that these markets have become a important community resource and economic engine for local agriculture. This winter’s series of 12 indoor markets features an amazing group of farmers, fishermen, and food vendors offering our best-ever selection of locally grown and handcrafted foods. Come see for yourself!
