CSA FAQ #2: How do I get my share?

Here’s the rundown on how CSA Pickup works at Stout Oak Farm.

This is what to expect if you join our Weekly Vegetable CSA!! (For information about Farm Store Credit Shares, click here)

Every Monday, Kate sends out a weekly email newsletter with a list of what will be in that week’s share, links to recipes, and news from the farm.

When and Where:  CSA members pick up their shares at our Farm Store in Brentwood.  When you register for the CSA, you are asked to choose either Tuesday or Friday as your pickup day (you come to the farm on the same day each week). Pickup runs from 2:00 until 6:00pm.  Kate and the farm crew take turns staffing CSA pickup so there’s always someone to ask questions, like what to do with your bok choi.

The CSA Box:  Your share will be pre-boxed and waiting for you. We offer one size share, so all the boxes have the same contents – 8 to 10 different vegetables each week.

BYO Bags or Baskets:  You’ll open up your box, ask the farmers any questions you may have about the vegetables, and then pack your share into your own bags to carry home. A typical share fits into 2 canvas shopping bags or 2 paper grocery bags.  The empty boxes stay at the farm, as we reuse them to pack your shares each week.

Flexible Share Contents:  If there’s
anything in your share you’d like to swap out, you may exchange it for
other vegetables available for sale at the Farm Store (of approximately the same
value)!

Farm Store:  You can shop for other local foods at CSA Pickup! The Farm Store is well stocked on CSA days. In addition to our own organic vegetables, we sell local cheese, milk, yogurt, meat, bread, and other local products. Canterbury Bread Shop delivers fresh bread every Friday.
