FALL HARVEST WEEKEND

The Farm Store will re-open for one weekend in November so you can stock your kitchen for the holidays! You’ll find a great selection of Stout Oak late season vegetables and eggs, along with local fruit, apples, grains, and dairy products from other local farms.

Spring Workshops

Friday April 10: Organic Lawn Care Workshop, 6:00 – 7:30pm*

  • Practical skills and problem solving will be the focus
    of the 1.5 hour workshop. It will begin with an overview of the systems
    approach to organic landscaping, soil testing and soil amendments,
    managing nutrition, grass types, and compost tea, and then delve into
    solutions for real-life landscape problems.
  • Workshop taught by
    Stout Oak crew member Javi Gil. Javi is an expert in organic
    landscaping and lawn care, having managed an organic landscaping company
    for the past 11 years. He is a NOFA Certified Land Care professional,
    and regularly teaches workshops on a range of organic gardening and
    landscaping topics. 

Friday May 8: Introduction to Compost Tea Workshop, 6:00 – 7:30pm*

  • This workshop will introduce you to the fundamentals
    of compost, soil microbiology, and why compost tea is the hottest new
    trend in gardening. Compost tea is used to promote beneficial bacteria,
    add nutrients to the soil, suppress disease and fungi, and increase
    overall health in plants. Participate in a hands-on demonstration, and
    learn to make your own compost tea at home with a few simple supplies.
  • The workshop will be led by Stout Oak crew member Javi Gil. Javi is an
    expert in organic landscaping and lawn care, having managed an organic
    landscaping company for the past 11 years. He is a NOFA Certified Land

Happy Hour at the Farm and Open House

Join us at the farm Friday evening for beer and lawn games!  Get to know the new Stout Oak Farm crew. Meet the chickens, tour the greenhouses, and find out what’s happening at the farm. We’ll also be sampling local cheeses and breads at the Farm Store. What to bring: BYOB and a picnic blanket.
